What is PM KUSUM Yojana?

The PM KUSUM Yojana is a Government of India initiative aimed at promoting clean and sustainable energy in the agricultural sector. Under this scheme, farmers receive central government subsidies ranging from 30% to 50%, and in some cases higher combined subsidies through state support, for:

• Standalone solar agricultural pumps
• Solarization of existing grid-connected pumps
• Grid-connected solar power plants up to 2 MW
• Solar energy systems on barren or fallow land

Farmers can also generate additional income by selling surplus electricity to local DISCOMs at tariffs approved by the state electricity regulator.

The scheme is implemented through designated State Government departments and renewable energy agencies.
